Details:
Photographic prints, printed vellum
Series of four works
In Alaska, I photographed landscapes at a distance, then placed closer views printed on translucent vellum over them. Rocks, animals, and ice appear at different scales, with one image remaining visible through another.
Getting closer adds another layer. Details emerge, but parts of the wider view become harder to see. The eye moves between the images without fully settling into either.
Weather, water, routes of access, cameras, and screens all take part in what becomes visible. My position lies somewhere among them, within the conditions that make the view possible.
